Review: She Gets What She Wants (A Fearless Fairytale #1) by Denise N. Wheatley

The first rule of conquering Hollywood? Get there.

Newspaper columnist Devon Jacobs is hiding more secrets than just the chocolate bars and half-finished screenplays stuffed in her desk. Kind-hearted and insecure, she dreams of escaping her stifling hometown of Berman, Indiana and moving to Hollywood to write for television. When she drunkenly confesses her feelings to her best friend, Jason, his painful snub finally spurs Devon to action. She quits her job, packs up and flies to Los Angeles to begin the rest of her life.

Devon's newfound drive lands her a production assistant role on a hit television sitcom. As she transforms into a confident and talented professional, she gains the attention of the show’s handsome and charming leading man, Ryan Roberts. But just as Devon’s star is in full ascent, Jason resurfaces. Used to being an extra in the background instead of the lead, Devon must decide whether her long-standing feelings for Jason are worth a second risk, or if she should pursue her developing attraction and friendship with Ryan.

Who ever said nice girls can’t win?

My Review:

From disaster to happily ever after.

The title of this book couldn’t have been more perfect.  Devon Jacobs does get what she wants, but it wasn’t an easy road for her.  She was stuck at a stressful job and in love with Jason, who didn’t share the same feelings for her.   So, when Devon’s friend, Gabby, calls from Hollywood and tells her there is an opening on the tv show she works at, Devon can’t say no.  Her dream is to be a screenwriter and this could be her big break.  Devon’s new life and job are going good and she is crushing on Ryan Roberts, the star of the show.  But Devon’s fears hold her back when Ryan confesses his feeling for her after Jason starts showing interest in her.  Now it’s up to Devon to be strong and ditch Jason, which seems to be a challenge as he is clingy, and win Ryan back.

This book was the perfect escape.  I couldn’t get enough of it.  It has just the right balance of love and drama.  I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Review: Texas Forged (Texas True #1) by Eve Gaddy

When the woman of his dreams walks through his door, it seems too good to be true...

World famous metal artist Gabe Walker is elated when the woman he’s loved since high school strolls into his workshop to ask him out on a date. But there’s a catch—it’s with another woman. Gabe has no trouble saying no to that date, but with Chantel? The answer’s always hell yes.

With two failed relationships behind her, Chantel Chandler wants to keep things light. She’s recently back in Whiskey River, Texas, and is determined to pick up the pieces of her life. But her casual friendship with Gabe quickly combusts into an intensely hot affair with an unexpected surprise…a pregnancy.

Chantel would love to be a mom, but she needs to be loved for herself first. Gabe says he’s all in, but how can she trust again when she’s been let down so many times?

My Review:

A highly emotional friends to lovers story.

I was hooked on this book from the very start and it only got better from there.  Gabe and Chantel knew each other in school, but they never dated, even though they were both attracted to each other.  Their relationships through the years hadn’t been the best and they both suffered heartbreak, so they planned to be friends only.  But it wasn’t meant for them to be just friends.  They ended up falling for each other pretty quick.  When Gabe’s ex shows up in town and there is another unexpected surprise, Chantel’s insecurities rise again and she pushes Gabe away.  Now, Gabe has to try and win Chantel back and he will do anything he can to prove how much he loves her.

I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t wait to see how Chantel and Gabe would work through each obstacle that was put in front of them on their journey to find a happily ever after.  This is the first book in a new series and I can’t wait to read the next.

Review: Craving a Real Texan (The Texas Tremaines #1) by Charlene Sands

For this personal chef,

things are about to get extremely personal…

Chef Harper Dawn flees to Texas in disguise after a reality dating show disaster. Hiding out at a luxury cabin means posing as personal chef to sexy-as-sin CEO Cade Tremaine. Cade should be off-limits—he doesn’t know who she really is. But they have serious sparks. Can Harper cook up a recipe for Texas-sized second chances…or will her secret stand in the way?

My Review:

This book starts a new series, The Texas Tremaines, a wealthy Texas family, that I couldn’t be more excited about.

In this book, we meet Cade Tremaine, who became a workaholic after losing his finance.  Now his health is on the decline and his doctor tells him to take a vacation.  So, he heads to the family cabin for some rest and relaxation.

Harper Dawn is a chef who went on a reality show to find love and became television’s most hated reality star after she declined a marriage proposal.  She just didn’t feel the man was a good fit for her.  Harper’s best friend, Lily, offers her the use of her family’s cabin to hide out until the media moves on to their next big story.  But what Lily didn’t know was her brother Cade was also going to the cabin.  So, Lily and her mother come up with the plan to keep both Cade and Harper at the cabin together by having Harper say she is a hired chef for Cade.  Cade and Harper become close pretty quick, but will Harper’s secret be the fall of their new relationship?

This book was a fun escape for me, into the life of the rich and famous.  I enjoyed learning about the Tremaine family while watching Cade and Harper fall in love.  I can’t wait to read the next book.
