Review: The Undercover Cowboy (Sweethearts of the Rodeo Book 3) by Jamie K. Schmidt

When a by-the-book investigator enlists the help of a rule-bending extrovert, explosive passion was not the plan.

Nash Miller, far from a seasoned bull rider, dons a cowboy hat for an undercover mission to expose the corrupt CEO of the United Professional Rodeo Circuit. Dolly Keller has the tough job of making Nash an online sensation while keeping his true identity under wraps – a challenge that’s as risky as a bull ride. Nash navigates the treacherous terrain of deception but finds his attraction to his partner is the true high-stakes gamble.

Dolly thrives under pressure, but she has a secret that could unravel everything–her life, her career, and the unexpected love blossoming between her and Nash. She wants to confide, but knows he’s bound by a strict moral code, that could derail their mission.

As the investigation reaches a fever pitch, Nash must confront the rules that define him in order to protect the woman who’s brightened his world, while Dolly must confront the shadows from her past.

My Review:

A high energy read.

This fast paced story takes place in the rodeo circuit and behind closed doors of the UPRC’s office.  There is a corrupt CEO and it’s up to former FBI agent, turned private investigator, Nash Weaver to find out what’s going on.  He teams up with Dolly Keller, the UPRC’s social media expert, to solve the case.  In the process of working together, they discover they are also good together as a couple.

I read this book in record time.  I was anxious to see how it turned out.  It is a great addition to the Sweethearts of the Rodeo series.

Review: The Cowboy’s Forbidden Bride (The Careys of Cowboy Point Book 2) by Megan Crane

Wilder Carey has always enjoyed living up to his name. When he spots pretty Cat Lisle in the seediest bar around, he ignores the bad blood between their families to step in. But his uncharacteristic good intentions scatter when she kisses him—and this unrepentant heartbreaker faces three uncomfortable truths:

  1. He’s been nursing an attraction to an innocent.
  2. He’s not a man built to resist temptation.
  3. And Cat is not only not the little girl he’s been pretending she is, she might be the one woman worth the trouble.

Cat’s over being well-behaved, but thanks to her grumpy and overprotective older brothers, she’s had no choice. Now that she’s ready to ruin her reputation, she lucks into an encounter with the cowboy of her hottest fantasies. Cat knows she’s supposed to avoid the Carey family, but Wilder is everything deliciously naughty and if she doesn’t take her shot, she’ll regret it forever…

Soon Wilder is secretly teaching her every sexy trick he knows, and Cat is falling in love… but what happens when sworn enemies want to go public?

My Review:

A wonderful forbidden romance.

The Careys and the Lisles had an ongoing family feud for generations.  So, when, Wilder Carey fell for Cat Lisle, Wilder wanted to keep their relationship a secret.  But secrets don’t stay hidden for long in a small town.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  It grabbed my attention from the start.  I enjoyed seeing Wilder and Cat’s relationship grow and the families putting their differences aside.  I liked the underlying theme of this book series where the Zeke Carey pretends to be dying in order to push his sons into finding a woman to settle down with and start a family.  This is a beautiful love story and a great addition to the series.
