Losing the Plot in LA by Sonia Farnsworth Review

Synopsis:

Sylvie is a trendy, LA party girl with more going on than she knows what to do with. Between apartment hunting, insane friends, a rapidly growing puppy, and one too many boys to juggle, shes just trying to catch her breath. Will the craziness overwhelm her, or will she find a better path to move forward? Draw a bath, pour some bubbly, and join her as she tries not to Lose the Plot.

My Review:

A fast paced fun story.

Sylvie is living her life in LA and having a ball.  From her dating experiences, to fun friends and nights out on the town, I couldn't put the book down.  It had me reminiscing about the past when I was in my 20s when I was boy crazy and didn't think of anything except where the next great party would be.

If you have a little extra time on your hands and want a quick book to read, pick the one up.  There is nothing deep in it, just pure fun.  It was like peeking into someone’s private life.

Come Away with Me by Karma Brown Review

Synopsis:

An unexpected journey leads one woman to discover that life after loss is possible, if only you can find the courage to let go…
One minute, Tegan Lawson has everything she could hope for: an adoring husband, Gabe, and a baby on the way. The next, a patch of black ice causes a devastating accident that will change her life in ways she never could have imagined.
Tegan is consumed by grief—not to mention her anger toward Gabe, who was driving on the night of the crash. But just when she thinks she's hit rock bottom, Gabe reminds her of their Jar of Spontaneity, a collection of their dream destinations and experiences, and so begins an adventure of a lifetime.
From the bustling markets of Thailand to the flavors of Italy to the ocean waves in Hawaii, Tegan and Gabe embark on a journey to escape the tragedy and search for forgiveness. But they soon learn that grief follows you no matter how far away you run, and that acceptance comes when you least expect it. Heartbreaking, hopeful and utterly transporting, Come Away with Me is an unforgettable debut and a luminous celebration of the strength of the human spirit.

My Review:

We have all heard the saying "life is what you make it".  In this book, it couldn't have been more accurate.

Tegan Lawson had the life she dreamed of.  She was recently married to a wonderful man, Gabe.  She loved being a teacher and she had a baby on the way.  But one thing brings Tegan's world crashing down in an instant.

On the way to Gabe's parents' house for dinner on Christmas Eve, Tegan and Gabe are involved in a car accident.  This sets off a chain of events that destroy Tegan’s perfect world.

This story reveals Tegan's journey of rediscovering herself and learning to live after her tragic loss.  Tegan and Gabe have what they call The Jar of Spontaneity.  They would write down their dreams and add them to the jar.  One day when they had the time, they would pull a slip of paper out of the jar and do what is mentioned on it.  This sets the book up for three exotic trips where Tegan will experience life to its fullest.  Along the way, there are many emotional breakdowns, but everything from these trips will prepare Tegan for the next chapter in her life.

This is probably one of the hardest reviews I have written because if I reveal too much, it gives away the ending.  And that ending is well worth waiting for.  I will just say I loved this book and highly recommend it to everyone to read.  It is one of those stories that will stick with you for a long time.

Love Me Tender (The Cinderella Project Book 2) by Ally Blake Review

Synopsis:

It was love at first sight…

When her Papa loses his job, indomitable Serafina Scott insists it’s her turn to take care of him – meaning landing a well-paying job…and fast. Which is how she ends up working for the Cinderella Project, a high-end matchmaking business, even though she’s certainly no expert on affairs of the heart. Until she meets Murdoch, the gruff builder restoring her extravagant new work place. He’s inscrutable, infuriating, and gorgeous…

Convincing them was a whole other matter.

Murdoch finds Sera confounding…and luminous. But beneath her firecracker exterior, she is dangerously soft-hearted, and the last thing she needs is a broken brute like him.

While Sera does her best to convince Murdoch that they are a match made in heaven, Murdoch makes it his mission to prove her wrong. Will it come down to who’s the most convincing…or who’s most willing to be convinced?

My Review:

A fun book with quirky characters that leave you craving more

When Serafina Scott takes a job working at a new matchmaking business, she didn't expect her boss would try to set her up with the sexy contractor renovating the house.  She is drawn to Justin Murdoch like she has never been to any other man in her life.

Murdoch has known Hazel for a long time and he would do anything for her.  But he isn't ready to date anyone yet.  When he discovers Hazel's plan of fixing him up with Sera, he flat out refuses even though he can't keep his eyes off the girl.

How far will Hazel go in order to see Sera and Murdoch in a relationship?

This entertaining story was a lot of fun to read.  I liked how forward Sera was when she decided she wanted Murdoch.  He was stubborn and fought the feelings he had for Sera a bit longer than I thought necessary.  But in the end it all made sense.  It was hard won love for them both.

A Royal Christmas Gift (Happily Ever After Book 1) by LuAnn McLane Review

Synopsis:

Prince Royal Nicholas Worthington is devastated when he learns that his monarchy is being used as a tax haven for the wealthy and drug runners. To protect his people, he flees to Alabama and poses as Nick Worth, an inspector for the National Historical Society.

Anna Lee is floored when Nick Worth shows up on her doorstep to give her grant money to restore her home. She’s charmed by the handsome inspector with his European accent and takes him up on his offer. The two week restoration project turns into something much more, but Nick fears that his presence could put his southern beauty in danger.

As Christmas Eve approaches Nicholas must decide if he can put the woman he loves at risk or disappear from her life forever…

My Review:

A Christmas miracle

Prince Royal Nicholas Worthington of Calloway Island needs a place to hide.  His life is in danger from international drug lords who have been using the island banks to launder their money.  The FBI agent he is working with has found the perfect place for Nicholas to hide while he works on making Calloway Island a US territory. First, he needs to go to Daleville Alabama to see if he will be comfortable staying in the home that has been chosen for him.

Anna Lee Brody didn't realize the struggle it would be renovating her grandparents historic home into a B&B.  Her finances are dwindling along with her energy.  The work is physically and mentally exhausting.  When a high ranking member of the National Historical Society, Nick Worth, shows up at Anna Lee's door, she is surprised to hear about the grant she will be getting to fix up the house.  The timing couldn't have been better.

Posing as Nick Worth seems to be a bit more difficult than Nicholas thought it would be.  How long will he be able to keep the real reason why he is staying with Anna Lee a secret?

When Anna Lee returns home from visiting her sister one day and finds Nick has left, her heart breaks. The first guy she really felt a connection to is gone without a word.  All he left was a Christmas gift and note saying he would return.  But when will that be?

This is a quick read and a very sweet story.  The writing was really good and the characters well written.  But the book ends without warning.  I thought the story could have been wrapped up with just another chapter.  There is a preview for the next book and it explains a little bit.  I can't wait to get that book in my hands to find out the conclusion to Prince Nicholas and Anna Lee's story.
