Review: Dark Knight’s Kiss (Witch and Demon Hunter Book 3) by Leigh Ann Edwards

LAMB operative Fiona Maguire isn’t happy about the company Halloween party. A gathering of magical beings in a remote location when the veil between realms is thinnest? With alcohol, a full moon, and an antique suit of armor possessed by a treacherous spirit? It’s a recipe for disaster.

Half-demon Lorcan Wright senses the spirit targeting Fiona and desperately wants to protect her. The powerful witch hardly needs his help, but unfamiliar emotions are driving Lorcan, and it’s making him crazy. Together, they banish the creature but Fiona’s left injured. Wracked with guilt, Lorcan shuts her out. When the grisly remains of women killed by dark magic begin appearing, the agency is tasked with locating and assessing this magical being––without their best team.

The power of this creature, however, is unprecedented, and Lorcan and Fiona have no choice but to travel through time to recruit help. As they fight the malicious magic together, they’re forced to face the worst of their history…and the truth of their relationship. Will they survive their toughest challenge yet? Or will the dark knight’s kiss destroy the bond between them forever?

My Review:

A unique and highly enjoyable story.

I enjoyed visiting Fiona and Lorcan’s world again to see what they were up to in this book.  I loved this book’s Halloween theme.  But when Fiona is confronted by an evil spirit possessing a suit of armor, the race is on to find and destroy both the suit and the evil entity.  This book also takes an emotional turn when Lorcan decides him and Fiona should put a stop to their friendship and partnership.

I read through this book in record time because I couldn't wait to see how my favorite LAMB team members would destroy the evil entity and find their way back to each other.  I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Review: Christmas in Aspen by Anita Hughes

A heartwarming story of holiday magic and love scaling new heights

Editor Caroline Holt is on her way to her late mother’s upstate cabin in Hudson to spend the holidays. She was supposed to be in London, having a holiday romance. But this Christmas, she isn’t in the mood to get her heart broken again. Caroline loves being an editor, but in the last year burnout has taken over. She has been mourning her mother, and she is looking to get that spark back.

In the cabin, Caroline finds a letter addressed to her mother. It’s in a red envelope, and the return address is Santa’s Little Red mailbox, in Aspen, Colorado. The letter is from a man declaring his love for her mother. He’ll be waiting for her in front of the Little Red Mailbox at three pm on New Year’s Eve.

Unable to ignore her curiosity, Caroline takes the next flight to Aspen to meet her mother’s mysterious lover, but things start getting complicated when she meets another man in town. The more they run into each other, the more she is drawn to him. And when Caroline finds out the truth about the person her mother had loved, she unravels secrets of her own past.

By the end of Christmas week, Caroline gets a chance to rewrite her own destiny by confronting her fears of loving again and possibly leaving behind what she thought was a perfect life.

My Review:

Full of hope and inspiration.

I always get swept away in this author’s books and this one was no different.  It is a beautifully written tale of family, friendships and new love, all set in gorgeous Aspen.  The descriptions of this story felt so real, it was like being there.  The characters were well written and had interesting story lines and the plot kept me interested from the very first page, to the very last.  I highly recommend this book.

Paisley is gorgeous, sexy, funny and a wicked talent fixing his favorite food. She’s also in desperate need of cash. Can Ever convince her to fake wedded bliss for six months?

They both have a reason to lie, but why does their fake love feel like the truth?

My Review:

A little white lie leads to love.

When Paisley Bent’s world comes crashing down, a real hero, Ever Loving, steps up to help her.  Paisley is also helping him in return. In order to claim his inheritance, he needs a wife.

This is an entertaining marriage of convenience story with memorable characters and fun dialogue.  It is the first book in the Taco Truck Romance series.  I enjoyed it from the very first page.  I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
