Review: A Summer to Remember (Cabin in the Pines Book 1) by Cassidy Carter

Careful what you wish for…

When single mom Delaney Phillips recommends that her boss and best friend, Wyatt Andrews, audition for a reality show that rescues dying businesses, she’s trying to save more than just precious childhood memories. Her home and job are also on the line. But when the slick host arrives full of ideas guaranteed to change the character of the resort, Delaney is worried. Worse, the host has romantic designs on Wyatt, and Delaney realizes she’s deeply in love with her best friend.

All Wyatt’s ever wanted was to run his family’s Cabins in the Pine Resort, but when a highway bypass leaves them too far off the beaten path, he’s in danger of losing everything. Delaney’s brainstorm sounds crazy, and it’s crazier when his business is chosen to be “fixed.” When the glamorous host and her crew arrive, they are hilariously unequipped to handle nature or the remote location, but more concerning—his friendship with Delaney is unraveling.

Can Wyatt save his family’s legacy and friendship with Delaney? Has Delaney waited too long to show Wyatt how much he means to her?

My Review:

A sweet friends to lovers story.

This book had all the right elements to make a memorable story; great characters, a fun setting and the reality show storyline made it even more interesting.  I enjoyed seeing Delaney and Wyatt’s relationship change from best friends to lovers, but it didn’t happen without a few hiccups along the way.  This book also had some great secondary characters too.  I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Review: Druids’ Dark Curse (Realm of Fractured Time Book 5) by Leigh Ann Edwards

When dangerous supernatural prisoners escape LAMB’s facility, agents Fiona Maguire and Lorcan Wright fear the Druid prophecy of a second apocalyptic battle between light and dark magic will soon come to pass. But the partnership between the magical witch and her half-demon lover––already strained with restoring the company and complicated family issues––is torn apart when past enemies and former lovers reveal long-kept secrets.

Anguished over deception and betrayal, Lorcan retreats to the demonic realm of Dark Lord Odhran. Should he choose to follow his evil father’s footsteps and lead the renewed campaign of malevolent magic, the transcendent witches will fall before his strength. Even Fiona’s escalating powers won’t stop him.

But Fiona believes that Lorcan is clinging to the scrap of humanity left in his heart, desperately working to prevent the battle. And if anything good remains of him, Fiona will cross time and space, even return to the scene of her darkest nightmare to reach him.

If they survive, is there any hope for their future? If her faith is misguided, will she have the ultimate courage… to kill the man she loves?

My Review:

I couldn’t have asked for a better ending to this series.

It’s always sad to say goodbye to a great book series.  But I couldn’t have asked for a better ending.  The story was full of emotion, humor and fun banter that I have come to expect from these books; along with exciting battles, unexpected twists and a couple huge revelations.  I just didn’t know how, or if, Fiona and Lorcan would get their happily ever after.  I am going to miss these characters.  I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Review: Fudge & Felonies (Frosted Misfortunes Mysteries #2) by Lisa Siefert

She just wants to share her delicious sweets. But a sticky surprise has this amateur detective dusting off her snooping skills.

Bakery owner Ava Decker is determined to put being dumped at the altar behind her. But her ambitions turn sour when her chocolaty cupcakes end up beside a beauty pageant contestant’s lifeless body. And when her good friend is accused of the crime, Ava throws herself into the mix to clear both their names.

With a dash of help from her cute kitten sidekick, the pastry-chef-turned-sleuth dives into the beauty queen scene to find out why a weight-loss-fanatic would be found dead next to sugary goodness. But with few clues and her hands messy with a full lineup of suspects, she struggles to follow the trail of crumbs to the real tiara-obsessed killer.

Can Ava crown the culprit before the plate of evidence is wiped clean?

Fudge & Felonies is the second book in the delightful Frosted Misfortunes cozy mystery series. If you like humorous characters, off-the-wall whodunits, and heartwarming fun, then you’ll love Lisa Siefert’s guilty pleasure.

My Review:

I didn’t want this book to end.

I totally enjoyed the first book in the Frosted Misfortunes Mysteries series and couldn’t wait to read this one. I enjoyed seeing Ava putting her sleuthing skills to work once again and seeing what crazy cat antics Lucky was up to this time. This book takes place during a beauty pageant where one of the contestants gets killed.  It was a fun story from start to finish.
