The Wedding Audition (Runaway Brides Book 1) by Catherine Mann & Joanne Rock Review

Synopsis:

The tabloids call her the Hit and Run Bride after reality show star Annamae Jessup walked out on Atlanta’s favorite baseball player on cable television. Eager to escape her notoriety, Annamae takes a road trip to find the grandmother she’s never met and winds up discovering a whole lot more than a band of back woods relatives. There’s no escape from reality TV, even in Beulah, Alabama, population 3000.

The last thing Wynn Rafferty needs in his new life is a spoiled television princess who can’t even know his real name. He’s in temporary witness protection as an apple farmer after his undercover work put his life in danger. He needs to lay low until the heat dies down from his last case— even if he sucks at growing apples as badly as he sucks at relationships. But Annamae turns his new town into a media circus, unwittingly threatening the lives of him, her and most of Beulah. Wynn is an expert at keeping the world at arm’s length, but when it comes to Annamae, the only way he can keep her safe is to keep her very, very close.

My Review:

A fun romance with two people who are looking for anything but love.

Annamae Jessup, star of the reality tv show Acting Up, is a bride on the run.  She ends her engagement on a live radio show the day before she was to get married.  She needs to get out of town fast and the perfect place is where her grandmother lives, Beulah Alabama.  She can finally get to meet and get to know her.

Wynn Rafferty is a police officer hiding out in a safe house until he can head back to Miami for a court date to put away a notorious drug lord.  He enjoys the quiet life of the farmhouse and the group of stray cats who live there.

Wynn is surprised when Annamae shows up wanting to rent the carriage house.  He doesn’t need anyone staying here and when he finds out who she is, he really doesn’t want her around.  He doesn’t need the press, or worse, the bad guys finding out where he is.  But Wynn is a nice guy and when he finds out why she wants to hide, he agrees to help her.  From there, things get crazy.

This cute story was a lot of fun to read.  There were great secondary characters as well and the main ones.  The entire story was a lot of fun.  I found myself cheering on Annamae and Wynn from the start.
