Review: The Hero’s Bride (Unbreakable SEALs Book 2) by Charlee James

One good deed…

When Mason “Red” Williams agrees to help his former teammate extract his fiancĂ©e’s best friend from a human trafficking ring, he accepts the mission. But when he’s guarding the ‘package,’ he fights against a powerful attraction. He should only feel responsibility, due to the power dynamic. Yet when she’s threatened with deportation, Red’s offer of marriage sounds practical and protective because guilt has him hiding his true feelings.

Thalia Flores is tired of being a pawn between a corrupt, deep-pocketed family and the legal system. She’s finished with living in fear after Red rescues her, and she has her first glimpse of happiness and freedom. Loving Red is easy, but when she’s threatened again, his offer of marriage falls flat. He’s an honest and noble man, and she won’t say yes just to watch him walk away when she gains legal standing.

But then Red needs her help, and for the first time in her life, Thalia has some control, and she knows just what she wants to do.

My Review:

An edge of your seat romantic suspense.

When they were kids, Thalia rescued Mason from the dangerous streets of Mexico.  Years later, they are reunited when Thalia is kidnapped and Mason and his partner head back to Mexico to rescue her.  What followed next was heart pounding race to get Thalia out of Mexico.  This is an amazing story of survival and learning to trust enough to fall love.

Review: Immortal by Morning (Argeneau #37) by Lynsay Sands

Being an immortal rogue enforcer is never easy. But when human bones are found buried in a residential garden—and they happen to be discovered by your life mate—things get even more complicated in this latest installment of New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands’s wickedly alluring Argeneau vampire series.

Crispinus Delacort is an immortal rogue enforcer and a homicide detective. But in his quiet city, he’s more likely to be rounding up truant teens than investigating murders. So, when he learns that human bones have been found in the garden of a sprawling rural home, it’s unexpected to say the least.

Abril Newman can’t believe her bad luck when she discovers a body buried on the grounds of her boss’s home, while chasing after Gina’s mischievous lab Lilith. She was just supposed to be house-sitting for a few days! And then Detective Delacort arrives. She knows she shouldn’t be thinking about love when there’s a crime scene outside the door. But ignoring her attraction to gorgeous Crispin is easier said than done.

When Crispin realizes that a rogue is involved, he knows this won’t be a simple investigation. Especially because he’s so distracted by Abril’s presence that all he wants is to kiss her senseless in every room of the manor. But he can woo her, solve the case, and stop a dangerous rogue by morning...right? All in a day’s work.

My Review:

I couldn’t put this book down.

I have been a fan of the Argeneau Series since book one.  So, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book.  It was just as good as I expected.

In this book we meet immortal, Crispin Delacort, when Abril Newman, who is house sitting for her boss, discovers bones in the yard.  Crispin is a detective assigned to the case.  What Crispin and his partner discover was not what they expected.  Turns out a rogue immortal is on the loose and this was the burial ground for the victims.  This is an exciting book with the hunt and capture of the rogue and seeing Crispin and Abril, who are life mates, fall in love.

Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Bonbons and Burglars (Frosted Misfortunes Mysteries Book 4) by Lisa Siefert

A high-profile wedding, a bakery disaster, and a frozen corpse—Ava Decker’s latest mystery is anything but sweet.

Pastry chef and small-town sleuth Ava Decker is thrilled to cater the most glamorous wedding of the season. But when the bride’s big day turns into a catastrophe—with a flooded venue, ruined desserts, and a dead body in Ava’s walk-in freezer—the celebration grinds to a chilling halt.

With her missing assistant as the prime suspect and a pair of mischievous kittens leading her to unexpected clues, Ava is up to her elbows in trouble. Add in her mother’s relentless matchmaking schemes and a charming yet infuriating billionaire, and Ava’s got more on her plate than just cupcakes.

Can Ava sift through the secrets and solve the case before the real killer serves up another deadly surprise?

My Review:

A great cozy mystery with kittens.

I couldn’t wait for the next installment of the Frosted Misfortunes Mysteries book to come out so I could catch up with Ava, Lucky, and all the memorable characters in Clover Creek.  In this book, Ava comes across another corpse; this time in the walk-in cooler at her bakery.  It was fun to see how far Ava would go to find the killer even though she is always told to stay out of it.  Ava is still questioning her relationship with Marcus in this book too.  I can’t wait for them to finally consider themselves a couple.  They are great together.  There are also extra kittens in this story.
